The Carmen Detroit Opera House: A Haven for Young Professionals

The program aims to create a deeper connection between the opera house and its audience by offering reduced-cost single tickets to performances of 'Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater' and 'Carmen.'

Since then, the program has continued to grow in popularity, attracting young professionals from all over metro Detroit. The response has been overwhelmingly positive, with many attendees praising the unique opportunity to experience world-class opera at an affordable price.

One of the key features of the Access program is its post-show cocktail reception, where young professionals can mingle with their peers, artists, and even David DiChiera, founding general manager of the Michigan Opera Theatre. This relaxed atmosphere allows attendees to shed their preconceived notions about who attends events produced by the MOT and to build connections with like-minded individuals.

Johnson's plan has been incredibly successful, with many young professionals returning for future productions after experiencing the opera house through Access. In fact, the program has become so popular that it's now a staple of the Michigan Opera Theatre's annual fundraising gala, BravoBravo.
